Jaipur, Rajasthan: A Simple 2-Day Travel Plan for First-Time Visitors

Editor | April 21, 2026 | 4 min read

Jaipur feels like history and daily life moving together in one frame. For a first trip, I like a plan that balances iconic places with slower local moments, so the city does not feel rushed.

Day 1: Fort Views and Old Jaipur

Start early and keep the first half focused on major landmarks:

  • Amber Fort for architecture, courtyards, and hill views.
  • Jal Mahal photo stop on the way back.
  • City Palace and Jantar Mantar in the afternoon.

In the evening, I prefer walking through Bapu Bazaar and Johari Bazaar for textiles, juttis, and local snacks.

Day 2: Culture, Cafes, and Sunset

I keep day two more flexible:

  • Visit Hawa Mahal in the morning light.
  • Explore Albert Hall Museum or Nahargarh Fort based on mood.
  • Reserve sunset time at Nahargarh for a wide view of Jaipur.

Dinner at a local Rajasthani restaurant is the best way to close the trip.

What to Eat in Jaipur

Some easy picks that make the trip better:

  • Dal baati churma
  • Pyaaz kachori
  • Ghewar (especially if available fresh)
  • Lassi from a trusted local shop

I keep street-food choices simple and drink sealed bottled water.

Budget Snapshot (2 Days)

A comfortable short trip can look like this:

  • Stay: INR 1,500 to 3,000 per night
  • Food: INR 800 to 1,500 per day
  • Local transport and tickets: INR 1,200 to 2,500

Total range: around INR 6,000 to 12,000 depending on hotel and transport style.

Responsible Travel Notes

Jaipur’s heritage spaces deserve careful behavior. I avoid touching old walls, follow site rules, and support local artisans where possible. Small choices help protect the city’s character.
