Kasol and Parvati Valley: A First-Trip Plan with the Kheerganga Trek

Editor | March 14, 2026 | 4 min read

I want my first Kasol and Parvati Valley trip to feel calm and easy: a short base in Kasol, slow village time in the valley, and one signature trek that feels achievable without being rushed.

Why Kasol Works as a Base

Kasol is a riverside village in Parvati Valley and a common base for treks such as Malana and Kheerganga. I plan to use it as a soft landing point before heading deeper into the valley.

What Draws Me to Parvati Valley

Parvati Valley in Kullu district is known for its riverside villages and forested slopes, and it draws trekkers and slow travelers throughout the year. It begins near Bhuntar and stretches upward into higher terrain, which makes it easy to build a short loop that includes Kasol, a few quiet villages, and one main trek.

The Main Trek: Kheerganga

This is the centerpiece of the plan. The Kheerganga trek is typically done over two days and is known for its hot springs and mountain views. The route is commonly described as starting via Manikaran and Barshaini, with Barshaini being the last point reachable by road. From there, the walk takes around four hours on foot. The trek is generally considered easy and is best done between April and December.

I want to do it in a simple rhythm:

  • Day 1: Kasol to Barshaini, then trek up to Kheerganga.
  • Day 2: Early morning hot spring soak, then trek back and return to Kasol.
The Small Moments I’m Looking For

I’m not chasing every spot. I want a few clear memories:

  • Sitting by the Parvati River in Kasol.
  • A slow walk through valley villages.
  • A quiet, unhurried soak at Kheerganga after the climb.
Travel Notes I’m Keeping in Mind

I’m aiming to keep the valley clean and quiet: carry waste back, avoid loud groups late at night, and keep the trek respectful for the people who live here year-round.
